Greg Miles Lewis is a drummer, producer, educator, and recording artist currently based in Los Angeles, CA.
He is an alumnus of the renowned music program at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), where he earned his Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) degree in jazz performance under the mentorship of David Roitstein and Joe LaBarbera. Prior to CalArts, he completed his Bachelor of Music (B.M.) degree at the University of Nevada, Reno, where he studied jazz drums and music composition under the direction of Ralph Alessi.
An active presence in the vibrant Los Angeles music scene, Greg collaborates with a wide range of artists including Red Leather (Empire), Angela Muñoz (Stones Throw Records), Floral, Larry Koonse, Bennie Maupin, Adam Benjamin (Kneebody), Xiuhtezcatl, and Heather Rivas. He is currently the drummer for theBABAorchestra, a 17-piece experimental big band led by Lauren Elizabeth Baba, and performed on Vinny Golia’s DownBeat Award–winning album Even to This Day… Music for Orchestra and Soloists – Movement Two. Most notably, Greg performs and records with the math rock duo Rob Ford Explorer, with whom he has released five critically acclaimed EPs.
As a composer, Greg’s work spans indie, pop, and electronic music, while heavily embracing improvisation. His compositional works have been featured on television via Cartoon Network and in national advertising campaigns for the Super Bowl (2023), Costa Brazil, and Miu Miu. Greg’s newest EP ‘Greggi’ featuring Jolee Go is set to release in late 2026.
Greg is currently the Assistant Coordinator and a core music instructor at B.E.A.R. for Youth, a nonprofit serving Los Angeles charter students. He is also on the drum faculty at the Los Angeles College of Music in Pasadena, where he works with ensembles.
He is a proud endorser of Canopus Drums and Istanbul Mehmet cymbals. He is also an active beta tester for Sunhouse Sensory Percussion.
