Sergio Reze

Sergio Reze is a Drummer/Percussionist/Composer graduated with honors at The Musicians Institute (MI- PIT) in California (USA) where he also studied at the Murray Spivack Percussion Studio.
Since his return to his homeland he has established himself as one of most sought-after drummers in Brazil appearing in more than 80 albums, keeping up a busy schedule of concerts, tours and studio work in a variety of genres from Brazilian Popular Music to Jazz and Instrumental music.
His personal and creative approach to drums, together with the use of different sounds, timbres and melodic elements, gave him a nomination for one of the most respected music awards in Brazil: “Prêmio Visa de Musica“. His credits include shows and recordings with Brazilian Music greats such as Ivan Lins, Edu Lobo,Toninho Horta, João Bosco, Paulinho da Viola, Chico Buarque, Monica Salmaso, Elza Soares, Ney Matogrosso, Lenine, Zélia Duncan, Dominguinhos, Nailor Proveta, Hamilton de Holanda, Luiz Tatit, Arrigo Barnabé, Arnaldo Antunes, José Miguel Wisnik, Flávio Venturini, Ceumar, Fabiana Cozza, Marcelo Jeneci, Ná Ozzetti, André Mehmari, Marco Pereira, among others.
He has been touring outside Brazil in countries like Germany, Austria, France, Spain, Portugal, England, New Zealand, USA, Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia, Ecuador, Cuba, Bolivia, Japan and working with artists from abroad like The Tonkunstler Orchester in Austria; as guest soloist by North American composer Patrick Zimmerli; with the Argentine composer and multi instrumentalist Carlos Aguirre; with Colombian master saxophonist Antonio Arnedo,with Italian pianist Giovanni Guidi among others.
Sergio is also deeply active in the Brazilian jazz and instrumental music scene playing and recording with some of its most significant names. In this field Sergio’s most representative and lasting partnership is with the award-winning Brazilian pianist, composer and arranger André Mehmari with whom he recorded many albums and toured extensively in Brazil and other countries.
Sergio is currently a Canopus Drums, Bosphorus Cymbals and Drum Practice Pads endorser.
