Rintaro Mikami

Rintaro Mikami is a drummer, composer born on August 25th in 1995 and raised in Kunitachi, Japan, and now living in Brooklyn, New York. He started playing drums since he was age of 12. He mainly played Rock music until he got the first drum teacher. He changed the musical direction into Jazz when he listened one of the famous album called “Love Supreme” by legendary John Coltrane.
In 2016, he went to the Collective School of Music in NYC and studied for a year and half. In 2018, he was accepted to get in to the School of Jazz and Contemporary Music at the New School with Scholarship award. So far, he has been studied with a lot of great teachers/musicians including Ian Froman, Peter Retzlaff, Carl Allen, Rodney Green and Reggie Workman.
In 2019, He joined NY based Contemporary Jazz band “Deeper Dreamer” In January of 2020, they are going to play at Jazz Education Network Conference at New Orleans as representative group of the New School. They are also going to have recording sessions to release the singles this winter.
