Marcos Volpe Jr, or “Marquinhos Fróco” was born on June 27, 1981, coming from a family of musicians, he started playing in his father’s dance band. In 1999 he went to study at the “Dr. Carlos de Campos ”from Tatuí, in the MPB and Jazz drums course, where he obtained his diploma in 2003. In 2004 he joined the Brazilian rhythms course, taught by pianist André Marques (Hermeto Pascoal, Trio Curupira). He studied with renowned drummers such as: José Carlos da Silva, Cleber Almeida (Trio Curupira) and Bob Wyatt.
He has already done several works with SESC-SP, among them: Tribute to Duke Ellington, tribute to Charlie Parker (these promoted by SESC itself). He also accompanied Wilson das Neves, great composer and drummer of MPB, in two performances. He has participated in percussion groups in Glasgow and Edinburgh (UK). He performed with his group Batucada Brazuca at the 1st instrumental Mostra “Brasil Instrumental”, being one of the ten chosen groups, having a CD released, one of which was performed by the group. Together with the Group, he gave a workshop on Brazilian music at SESC Araraquara’s first instrumental show. He has also participated in several festivals such as: Jam Session instrumental SESC Vila Mariana and Festival de musica instrumental de Guarulhos. He participated in the commission for the selection process of musical educators from the Guri project poles throughout the state of São Paulo in the Percussion specialty. He was present at NAMM SHOW in Los Angeles in 2013, 2014 and 2019. He participated in the first Canopus Day Brazil 2014 in São Paulo, presenting himself as an exclusive artist of the brand. He has recorded with several national artists including a DVD with the participation of Roberto Menescal, as well as participation in international productions.
He worked as a drummer with great artists such as Milionário & Marciano in the LENDAS project, and country duo Gian & Giovani.
He works intensively in the recording market, and as a drum teacher.He owns Outside Estúdio, where he also works as a musician and music producer.
