Adriano Bernobic

Adriano Bernobic (1984., Kopar) completed elementary music school and high school for music in Pula, Croatia. During his early studies, he focused predominantly on classical percussion and played with his hometown marching band, as well as the Pula Wind Orchestra and the Salon Orchestra of Pula. When Adriano was first introduced to jazz music, an instant connection happened. As a result, he decided to become a jazz drummer. While preparing for his entrance to the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, Austria, Adriano played in numerous small jazz groups and the Pula Big Band. During his education in Graz, Adriano had the privilege of studying with the following professors: Wolfgang Tozzi, Christian Salfelner, and most importantly, Howard Curtis. Upon completing his Bachelor’s degree, Adriano decided to enroll in the Master’s program in Graz and spent a year studying in Paris as part of the Erasmus student exchange program. Upon completing his Master’s degree in 2012, Adriano relocated to Zagreb, Croatia. He has been collaborating frequently with the HRT Jazz Orchestra, as well as numerous Croatian and international jazz musicians. Most recently, Adriano has worked with Tamara Obrovac, Matija Dedic, Deborah J. Carter, Satoshi Inoue, among many others. He performed at the South By Southwest Music Festival in Austin, Texas in 2013., and also  received the prestigous “Status 2013.” award from the Croatian Musicians’ Union, in the category of Best Jazz Drummer in Croatia. Adriano is currently working on several musical projects and performing frequently.
