Started playing drums at the age of 11, Hansen found his passion and love of music at the age of 18 and decided to pursue his career on music.
In 2025, Hansen Arief with Kevin Yosua Trio become the first Asian drummer to win the New Generation Jazz Lab with, which was held by Festival Da Jazz St. Moritz Switzerland, where he received mentorship from the legendary drummer Gregory Hutchinson. Opening up international windows with Kevin Yosua Trio, Hansen also has performed and recorded with acclaimed jazz musicians such as Fabien Mary, Jacob Chung and Yuki Futami.
Not only active in performing, Hansen is also active in cultivating Indonesia’s jazz scene. In 2024, he joined the faculty made by bass player Kevin Yosua which held an
independent 4-day Jazz Camp in Indonesia, which is called “Legato Jazz Camp” with a total number of 150 students up to this day.
