Sipho Kunene was born in Cape Town, South Africa and now lives in New York City. He has lent his services as a drummer to many diverse musical situations. Sipho has been the pulse behind artists ranging from Abdullah Ibrahim, Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Hugh Masekela toHarry Belafonte, Jennifer Holliday and the Harlem Gospel Choir, among many others. He continues to tour extensively, do workshops and teach privately.

The search is over! I have finally found my musical voice.
Played light or strong the tone is pure, warm and really sings. I have played many different rental kits on different tours and stages from Europe and Australia to Africa and Japan. When I first played a Canopus kit on a gig in Miami I couldn’t believe the sound and feel of the drums. I was immediately in love.
