A graduate from Mexico’s Superior School of Music (INBA), drummer and composer Adrian Oropeza created his trio with the purpose of showing mexican music great potential to merge, specially with jazz. In 2008 he recorded his first album, ‘Texturas’ (Textures) and three years later ‘Mezcal’, both with support from the National Fund for Culture and Arts through a scholarship by the Program to Promote Cultural Joint Ventures. In 2012 Adrian Oropeza Trio traveled to Philippines to represent Mexico in the International Jazz Festival at Manila (P.I. Jazz Festival) and later to Bolivia for the 25th La Paz Festijazz. In 2014 Adrian Oropeza’s Trio was part of the prestigious Java Jazz Festival in Jakarta, Indonesia as well as some shows in Singapore. He was the first mexican and latinamerican to be invited to the Guimaraes Jazz Festival in Portugal. In 2016 Adrian Oropeza Trio have also performed at FIMU in Belfort France and in 2017 at Jazz in de Gracht in The Hague and Delft Jazz Festival in Holland. In Mexico he has play in main jazz festivals including Tabasco’s Humedales Festival, Morelia’s Jazztival and International Jazz Festivals in Hidalgo, Zacatecas, San Luis Potosí, Aguascalientes, Real de Catorce, Chapala Jalisco, Merida Yucatán Irapuato, Queretaro and many others. From 2012 to 2014 Oropeza formed H3A, a musical project with renowned flutist Horacio Franco and bassist Aaron Cruz; he was a member of Sattva Jazz Project, a musical group that recorded the album “Kando” in 2013 and “Sattva0101” in 2017, which Oropeza show diferent aspects as a drummer. In 2015 he made his third album with renowned musicians as French Pianist Manuel Rocheman and Mexico’s Agustin Bernal. ‘Amaneceres’ (Sunrises) reflects Oropeza’s creative spirit and musical personality with nine songs, seven originals and two arrangements for mexican music, which has been Adrian Oropeza main contribution to Mexico’s jazz scene.
Adrian Oropeza Trio was created in 2006 out of necessity to express an original voice in mexican jazz. This group includes bass, piano and drums, three instruments with an extraordinary musical richness that are part of the jazz tradition. Preserving music’s freedom and plurality , Adrian Oropeza Trio ventures into contemporary music with original compositions that rich Mexico and Latin America rich culture, fused with modern harmony and improvisation that prove to be a unique and original. Adrián is composing and producing the fourth CD and recently he is sideman af singer Atenea Ochoa and recently release a new record “La Patria Grande” Playing diferent folkloric rhytms like Joropo Venezolano, Danzón, Landó Peruano, Zamba argentina.
