Master of Music in Performance from UNICAMP (Brazil), is currently a Doctoral candidate in Musical Arts – Performance at the Department of Global Music, Sibelius Academy, Uniarts Helsinki.
With over 20 years of experience as a performer and educator, he has taught at leading academic institutions in São Paulo (Brazil).
As a drummer, has performed in concerts and recordings with renowned artists such as Caetano Veloso, Arnaldo Antunes, Jaques Morelenbaum, Guinga, Gal Costa, Luiz Melodia, Johnny Alf, Olívia Byington, Tetê Espíndola, among many others. He was a columnist for Modern Drummer Brasil magazine.
As a researcher, he focuses on the concept of the “Brazilian Drum Set” (Bateria Brasileira) and is the author of the book A Batucada Fantástica de Luciano Perrone: sua performance musical no contexto dos arranjos de Radamés Gnattali, published by OmniScriptum (Latvia). Alexandre is also a member of the multicultural Orquestra TODOS, which brings together musicians from more than ten countries to perform global music repertoire, and the newly formed Thomas Clausen Brazilian Quartet, dedicated to exploring Brazilian music within a European jazz context.
