Karl Tietze is a musician, composer, and educator based in Richmond, Virginia. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, he has built a professional career as a jazz drummer spanning upwards of 15 years. His proficiency as a sideman has led him to perform with a variety of musical artists including Ellis Marsalis, John Clayton, Braxton Cook, Kirk Whalum, Justin Kauflin, John D’Earth, Charles Owens, Veronica Swift, Gabrielle Cavassa, IFE, and many others at venues across the country such as Smalls Jazz Club, Carnegie Hall, SFJAZZ Center, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Con Alma, Festival International De Louisiane, and Grand Performances LA.
