Miguel Assis is a Brazilian drummer, educator, and composer whose work bridges Brazilian traditions and contemporary jazz. Drawing on rhythms such as bossa nova, baião, and samba, he has developed a distinctive musical voice. He is the creator of Balaio de Ritmos, an educational book dedicated to Brazilian rhythmic language, and leads the Miguel Assis Quintet, performing original music internationally.
