Alexander Gagatsis is a percussionist with a particular interest in improvisation, whether in jazz, Balkan, and contemporary music or their fusion. He has worked with a diverse range of groups and artists including the Grand Union Orchestra, Savinna Yannatou and Primavera en Salonico, Café Balkan, Michalis Siganidis, Pavlina Konstantopoulou, Tasos Stylianou, Claude Deppa, Carlos Maldonado, and others. He is currently a Lecturer in Jazz Studies at the University of Manchester, UK, where he also serves as Director of Performance.
