River is a lifelong percussionist and drummer from Portland Oregon. He got his start as a young child playing djembe and percussion instruments until he was gifted his first full size drum set at the end of elementary school. From then he began recording improv jazz albums with a mentor that led a jazz band at his middle school.
Rivers years in middle school and high school were filled with heavy musical experimentation and exploration as he continued to push his boundaries as a self taught musician. He performed in various music projects from punk, to funk and soul, electronic dance music, jazz/world music and psychedelic progressive rock music, honing his versatility and ability to read many musicians across all age ranges and skill levels.
From age 15 to 22 River was leading large groups of fire and circus performers at Burning Man, composing the rhythms and music for the shows and cueing acts, performing infront of thousands of people and collaborating with artists from across the world. During this time, and because of his upbringing in the circus and rave communities, River began diving deep into producing his own music and started DJ’ing a few years later after he moved to Las Vegas
Since moving to Las Vegas River has had the pleasure of performing alongside world famous DJ’s and artists, producing music for art installations at festivals and performs yearly at EDC as a percussionist and DJ. River has played well over 500 shows in Las Vegas over the past 5 years both as a percussionist, drummer and DJ and has secured himself as a successful and intuitive improv artist of the city.
