Born in 1987, Kazuhiro Odagiri started playing the piano, trombone and percussion at an early age. He first started playing the drums at the age of 17 and attended the Kunitachi College of Music in 2008 to study percussion. He played drums in the New Tide Jazz Orchestra and won first place 3 consecutive times in the “Yamano Bigband Jazz Contest”. At school, he studied under Sadao Watanabe, Makoto Ozone and Yosuke Yamashita. He was awarded the “Yosuke Yamashita Award” which is given to the most exceptional student. Afterwards, he attended Berklee College of Music with full-tuition scholarship and graduated at the top of his class. At Berklee, he studied with Ralph Peterson(Dr), Terri Lyne Carrington(Dr) and Darren Barrett(Tp). He played at venues such as Blue Note NY, WBGO Jazz 88.3FM and the Beantown Jazz Festival while he was still a student and moved to New York after graduating. During his 6 years in New York, he played with Takuya Kuroda(Tp), Tadataka Unno (pf), Lonnie Plaxico(B). In Japan, he played in a quartet with Hiroyuki Odagiri (Tb), Keiko Odagiri (pf), Tomoko Odagiri (Vib) while also performing with people like Makoto Ozone (pf), Junko Moriya (pf) and Kengo Nakamura (B). He performs in a wide variety of music, such as playing for the recording of the Dragon Quest Soundtrack and concert. In 2021, he joined Makoto Ozone’s “OZONE 60 in Club” New Project “From OZONE till Dawn” Motion Blue YOKOHAMA performance. He is also a member of the Jazz Arts Ensemble of Tokyo “BIG BAND”.
