Terrence Ling Hung Shu started his drums lesson in 2011 when he was pursuing his undergraduate studies at UCSI University under the tutelage of Elliott Koon and Charles Wong. He has started his performing career in 2013. Since then, he has performed alongside with numerous high profile local and international artists such as Michael Veerapen (Malaysia), John Dip Silas (Malaysia), Patrick Terbrack (USA), Janet Lee (Malaysia), Damian Erskine (USA), Amelia Ong (Indonesia), Jasmine Chen (China), Scott Murphy (Scotland), Hiroyuki Yagi (Japan), Alex Woods (UK), to name a few. Notable performances include Voice of China Singer, Guan Zhe (关喆)Malaysia Concert and Ivy Chen’s China Beijing Tour both in 2016.
Besides session for different musicians and singers, Terrence also performed in numerous festivals including Publika Jazz Festival, JB Arts Festival, Malaysian Jazz Piano Festival, International Jazz Day Marathon, Tornado Music Festival, World Youth Jazz Festival, Borneo Jazz Festival, Singapore International Jazz Festival and Musicsynthesis Festival. He is also actively performing in local jazz clubs include No Black Tie, Alexis Bistro, Imaginarium, Suzie Wong, Chinahouse Penang, NeroFico, Hakka Republic and The Forbidden City.
Terrence recorded “Pianistic Wolverine”, the debut album by Toro Cheng Trio in 2014; “Blessed Christmas with Gabriel & Friends” in 2015; and “Bearing Witness”, the debut album by Newsound in 2018.
Besides drumming, Terrence has a wide experience in choral and singing. Terrence is now a faculty member of Institute of Music, UCSI University Malaysia. Besides teaching and performing, Terrence adjudicates singing competitions as well as a vocal, modern band and drums clinician at home and abroad.
