The 2mm thick solid brass shell provides great resonance at all playing levels – along with a full tone and wide volume range.The drum has been given an atmospheric “corrosion-like” surface treatment – reminiscent of the patina finish on classic vintage cymbals.
In addition, our exclusive hand-hammered treatment has controlled the high harmonics to give a perfectly balanced sound.The tone, with a short sustain and emphasized low frequencies, also provides an outstanding mid-range sound.

The Canopus Solid Brass Patina Snare is not only a snare with a ton of mystique and style, but it is also the most complex and powerful sounding snare I have ever heard! The solid brass shell gives it a really cutting tone that can be heard in any live situation without it sounding harsh or too bright. It’s ability to maintain a rich and dark tone while still cutting through is what makes it so special. I believe this snare is extremely versatile. I play it in small jazz lounges, and at large outdoor amphitheater venues! Although it sounds good at all tunings, I find it particularly pleasing tuned medium high. When hitting near the rim you get a beautiful open tone with subtle but complex harmonics. This is by far the best sounding snare I have ever heard!
