Jonathan Barber

Jonathan Barber born in Hartford, CT, has been playing the drums since the age of 5. He studied with Master Artist, Renee Mclean, and then studied at the University of Hartford, Hartt School of Music, Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz, where he graduated Cum Laude, receiving a B.A. in Music Performance (Jazz Studies). He is based in NYC and has been performing with many artists such as Jimmy Greene, Erykah Badu, Wallace Roney, Jeremy Pelt, Kenny Barron, John Patitucci, Kurt Elling, Terrace Martin, Charnett Moffett, Stanley Jordan, Harold Mabern, Steve Davis, Larry Willis, Abraham Burton and many more. Jonathan has traveled and toured nationally and internationality, and performed in notable festivals and clubs, and he is now stepping out as a bandleader. Jonathan endorses Canopus Drums, Evans drumheads and Pro-Mark drumsticks.

Na Hoku Hanohano Award, also known as “Hawaiian Grammys”, is the award that recognizes influential artists, composers, performers in Hawaiian music scene since 1978. Legendary Hawaiian drummer Harold Chang, who recently became a part of CANOPUS family as an endorser, was awarded Lifetime Achievement Award this year. It is considered as the most honorable award among all musicians in Hawaii. Harold and CANOPUS has been related over 30 years and now we started our new endorsement relationships.
